The All Optical Networking Consortium was formed by AT&T Bell Laboratories, Digital Equipment Corporation, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to investigate architectures for, and build prototypes of all optical networks. The work is funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
