  • DOCOMO and Disney to Jointly Offer Smartphones and Mobile Services Under New “Disney Mobile on docomo” Brand

    TOKYO, JAPAN, February 1, 2012 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. and The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd. jointly announced today that they will introduce an exclusive smartphone brand, “Disney Mobile on docomo,” beginning with the launch of one model in late February and a second model in March.

    Smartphones developed by the two companies will be sold by DOCOMO under the “Disney Mobile on docomo” brand.

    A variety of exclusive benefits and special services and content will enable users of these smartphones, including adult women and others, to encounter unique Disney experiences.

    Exclusive content and services will include:

    • Access to Disney full-length animations, live actions and overseas dramas.
    • Digital content from Disney, such as puzzle and music game applications for children and family-entertainment.
    • Original Disney applications, live wallpapers and more.
    • Various customer benefits in cooperation with Tokyo Disney Resort.

  • DOCOMO Unveils First 2 “Disney Mobile on docomo” Android Smartphones

    TOKYO, JAPAN, February 1, 2012 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today the first two Android™ smartphones under the “Disney Mobile on docomo” brand that it is launching in cooperation with The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd. The “Disney Mobile on docomo F-08D” model will go on sale in the end of February and the “Disney Mobile on docomo P-05D” model will launch in March. Both models will be sold in Japan only.

    The magical world of Disney is featured throughout the two smartphones, from their outer designs to user interfaces, including main displays and screen icons. Both models are waterproof and compatible with popular DOCOMO services, such as Osaifu-Keitai® mobile-wallet services.

    Users will enjoy free access (excluding packet-data charges) with their smartphones to movie services, original live wallpapers, puzzle and music game applications for children and family-entertainment.

    Special customer benefits also will be offered from this spring in cooperation with Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, where DOCOMO is an official corporate sponsor.

    Pre-orders for the “Disney Mobile on docomo F-08D” model scheduled for release in late February will be accepted at docomo shops from February 17. Pre-orders for the Disney Mobile on docomo P-05D model scheduled for release in March will be announced later.

  • NTT DOCOMO to Launch Public Tender Offer for Shares of Radishbo-ya

    TOKYO, JAPAN, January 30, 2012 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced that the company will launch a tender offer to acquire all shares of Radishbo-ya Co., Ltd, a Japanese premium home-delivery service offering organic and preservative-free foods.

    DOCOMO’s offer is to acquire all shares tendered during the tender offer period from January 31 to March 12, 2012 on the condition that it reaches the minimum number of 3,706,600 shares, or 51% of the company’s total shares*1.

    Today, DOCOMO entered into agreements with JAFCO Buyout No.2 Investment Limited Partnership*2, the largest shareholder of Radishbo-ya, and with JAFCO Buyout No.2 Investment Limited Partnership (Cayman) L.P.*3, a major shareholder of Radishbo-ya, under which these shareholders have agreed to tender all of the Radishbo-ya shares they hold through the tender offer.

    • *1 51% of the combined total of all outstanding common shares (6,939,317 shares) and common shares (328,500 shares) underlying the stock acquisition rights (3,285 rights)
    • *2 Holding 3,238,229 shares, or 44.56 %, of Radishbo-ya.
    • *3 Holding 134,926 shares, or 1.86 %, of Radishbo-ya.

    Details of the Tender Offer

    • (1) Purpose
      DOCOMO, a growing provider of integrated services centered on mobility, regards food as a promising field for new business development, because these products are suited to mobile commerce. At the same time, DOCOMO believes it can help expand Radishbo-ya’s customer base through access to DOCOMO’s approx. 60 million subscribers.

      DOCOMO expects to increase customer satisfaction for both companies by combining Radishbo-ya’s products, long regarded in Japan as a top brand with high standards of quality, and DOCOMO’s smartphones, tablets and mobile services. DOCOMO will drive innovation by collaborating with Radishbo-ya in areas including food safety, solutions for graying society, and agricultural and environmental issues.

      DOCOMO, which is evolving into an integrated service company centered on mobility, intends to accelerate its deployment of related commercial businesses through the acquisition.

  • DOCOMO, LAWSON and Radishbo-ya Agree on Business and Capital Alliances

    TOKYO, JAPAN, January 30, 2012 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC., Japan’s leading mobile operator and provider of integrated services centered on mobility, LAWSON, INC., one of the largest Japanese convenience store chains, and Radishbo-ya Co., Ltd., Japan’s premium home-delivery service for organic and preservative-free foods, announced today plans for business and capital alliances in connection with completion of DOCOMO’s intended acquisition of Radishbo-ya’s outstanding common shares and stock acquisition rights through a public tender offer, which was stated in a separate announcement today.

    The agreements attempt to create strong business synergy among the three companies by leveraging their respective assets and business know-how, aiming to capitalize on Japanese consumers’ growing demands for food safety and environmental awareness.

    Under the envisioned agreements, LAWSON will acquire a maximum 20% ownership of Radishbo-ya and will provide a representative director to Radishbo-ya’s board of directors.

    The share acquisition by LAWSON will follow DOCOMO’s conversion of Radishbo-ya into a wholly owned subsidiary. The agreement also is contingent on LAWSON’s internal approvals.

    The business tie-up is expected to enhance Radishbo-ya’s logistical capabilities by merging Radishbo-ya’s and LAWSON’s respective expertise in logistics, and by increasing distribution efficiencies through the establishment of a joint distribution system, which DOCOMO will support with advanced mobile technologies and know-how.

  • DOCOMO to Offer Discount Campaign for LTE

    TOKYO, JAPAN, January 27, 2012 --- NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that subscribers to its extra-high-speed next-generation LTE service Xi™ (read “Crossy”) will be able to enjoy discounts under the “Xi Start Campaign 2” from May 1 to September 30, 2012.

    Subscribers to selected packet flat-rate and data service plans (see below) will automatically receive a ¥1,050 (including tax) discount on their basic monthly charges.

    At present, Xi subscribers are scheduled to receive monthly discounts of ¥1,575 (including tax) through April 30, so the new campaign means they will continue to enjoy special discounts until the end of September.
